The topics to be explored include: What are the educational options for students with disabilities?  If college is right for your child, which type of college?  If your child needs a specialized program after 21, how do you find it? Dr. Brown is a college consultant who works with colleges, families and students around the country with autism spectrum disorders.  She has co-authored, ”Students with Asperger’s: A Guide for College Professionals.”  The second volume, “The Parent’s Guide to College for Students on the Autism Spectrum” will be published in 2011. Featuring Nicole Feeney, Assistive Technology Specialist with the New England Assistive Technology Resource Center (NEAT)

The iPad provides a treasure of possibilities for assistive technology and opportunities for students with special needs.  In this workshop, we will explore the iPad’s basic navigation, accessibility features, pre-installed applications and accessories.  Participants will discover the potential use of the iPad as a personal learning tool and the third party applications that can enhance a student’s learning experience.  Please feel free to bring your personal handheld device, as there will be plenty of time for hands-on involvement.
